Major changes in Release 2 include:
- dbRIP data release 2.0 for hg18 & hg19, which covers ~650 new RIPs found in the Venter diploid genome;
- the use of new dbRIP ID system: unique numbers at fixed length (7 digits) with the 1st digit indicative of the TE type as shown below:
- 1000000~1999999 for Alus
- 2000000~2999999 for L1s
- 3000000~3999999 for SVAs
- 4000000~4999999 for ERVs
- The remaining 5 numbers can be used for other types of REs and/or extra Alus if 1000000~1999999 runs out.
- support for hg19;
- addition of a position mapping utility for identifying overlap with RIPs in dbRIP
